What is Microsoft Exchange hosting and who is it suitable for?
Hosted Exchange is the professional email solution from Microsoft, operated on world4you servers, so you do not need your own Exchange server. Emails, appointments and contacts are stored centrally and kept in sync on all devices. It is ideal for teams that need shared calendars and contacts, while for individuals with simple mail needs a classic mail package is enough.
What is the difference between standard email hosting and Exchange?
A normal mailbox only synchronises emails via IMAP. Exchange additionally synchronises calendars, contacts and tasks and offers calendar sharing as well as a shared address book, the Global Address List. On top of that comes ActiveSync for smartphones, which transfers changes to all devices immediately.
Can I synchronise my calendars with Hosted Exchange?
Yes, calendar sharing is included. You can share calendars with colleagues, see availability and enter appointments for others. Changes appear on all connected devices practically in real time.
Does Hosted Exchange work with Outlook, iPhone and Android?
Yes. For Outlook on the computer there is a direct Exchange connection, and for smartphones ActiveSync is included, so it works equally well on iPhone and Android. In addition you can work in the browser via Outlook Web Access, without installing anything.
How much storage space does an Exchange mailbox have at world4you?
The entry level starts at 5 GB of mail storage per mailbox. Extensions to 10, 15, 30 or 50 GB are possible, with 10 GB corresponding to around 20,000 emails with attachments and 50 GB to around 100,000. Storage is booked per address, so you can top up exactly where it is needed.
How do I migrate my existing emails to Exchange?
The requirement is at least one email address at world4you, and in the customer area you then enable the upgrade to Hosted Exchange per address. Existing messages are taken over via an IMAP migration, and contacts and calendars can be exported from Outlook and imported again. Only delete the old mailbox once everything has arrived in full.
Is Hosted Exchange at world4you GDPR-compliant?
Yes. The server location is Europe, world4you is set up to be GDPR-compliant and guarantees 99.9 per cent availability. Administration runs via the customer area and you do not have to operate a server yourself. For processing personal data belonging to your customers you also need a data processing agreement.
