Will I lose my emails when I change email provider?

No, not if you transfer them beforehand. Emails sit physically in the old mailbox and are copied by IMAP migration, not moved, so the original remains until you delete it. It only becomes critical if you cancel the old account before the transfer is complete.

Can I migrate emails from GMX or Gmail to world4you?

Yes, the messages can be taken over from GMX, Gmail or web.de via IMAP. You cannot take the address itself with you, because it belongs to the provider's domain, so instead you set up a new address on your own domain . Handy: set up forwarding in the old account so that nothing gets lost during the transition.

What is an IMAP migration and how does it work?

With an IMAP migration the system connects to the old and the new mailbox at the same time and copies the folder structure including the messages one to one. All you need for that is the access data for both accounts. The advantage: read status and folders are retained, and nothing is deleted in the old mailbox.

Do I have to re-create my contacts when migrating my emails?

Contacts and calendars usually do not sit in the mail folder, but locally in your program or in the provider's address book. They are therefore exported separately, for example as a CSV or ICS file, and imported into the new account. With Hosted Exchange they then sit centrally on the server and synchronise to all devices.

Can I keep receiving emails during the email migration?

Yes. As long as the MX record still points to the old provider, messages arrive there, and after the switch they land in the new mailbox. Keep both accounts active during the transition, then no message is lost. A follow-up migration finally collects the emails that have arrived in the old mailbox in the meantime.
